Easter is just around the corner! I would love to know what your Easter traditions are with your kids so that I can get some ideas on what to do in the coming years!
This week on #romancingthehome, the ladies decided to do Easter fun with their children and because I don’t have children yet, I decided I may as well do something fun by myself since I am still a child at heart. 😂
So I decided to make some pretty easter sugar cookies and decorate them like you see on Instagram and Pinterest, because it can’t be that difficul? I mean if I can paint I’m sure I can decorate a few cookies with icing!
The recipe for the cookies was so easy and they turned out delicious! Definitely a great recipe to save for the future Easter cookies tradition I want to start with my children!
However because I have never attempted to decorate sugar cookies with royal icing I didn’t know what I was in for!
I made the royal icing and youtubed some tutorials on how to decorate these cookies!
Well let me just tell you, my idea of making beautiful Easter cookies didn’t last very long!
I managed to do two multi coloured ones and was going to finish them off with pretty white detailing and then it all went wrong! The icing started getting too hard and when the icing isn’t in the right consistency it won’t level out on the cookie and you end up with bumpy icing!
I thought ok well let’s just add a bit more water and it will be the right consistency... well thats not how it turned out! I ended up adding too much water and the icing became too watery and there’s no going back from that!
